As I was learning to perform a house clearing a few weeks ago, my teacher gave me a great idea for a family activity to learn about the runes...and even sent this clay home for us!
Having something to work with their hands while delving into the deeper meanings of some of the runes really helped hold our boys' attention. We have been learning the runes themselves- how to tone them, what they look like. But we are now beginning to learn the meanings behind them.
Here are a few that we did today:
Ingwaz - bringing in the elemental energies, rune of opening as a window to bring in these energies
*There is a practice one can employ with this rune to bring in the energies of Tyr's nail (the pole star), the moon, Gingungagap, etc. that perhaps we will explain in a future post

Elhaz – sanctuary, serving as man’s link between the celestial and chthonic energies or realms

Wunjo - harvest joy, fruits of the field gathered and carried in
Extremely appropriate at this time of year, especially this month as we celebrate the First Harvest and give thanks to Frey, Lord of the Harvest!
