This morning, I went out onto our porch overlooking the misty Paint Rock Valley to tone the runes in connection with nature before resuming my daily herbalist studies. After breathing the runes, I stood up and faced North, greeting the Godanum. Tapio, as a giant stag with great antlers, was beckoning me to walk in the woods, which I shall do as soon as I have completed some other duties. Louhi stood right in front of me on the ground, but was as tall as I was standing higher on the porch which wraps around our log cabin home. She said, “You are ready.” When I asked, “For what am I ready?” She simply said, “You’ll see.”
It will be interesting to see how things unfold over this summer as I have been getting “You are ready” from the Godanum for several months now.
Lastly, Frigga was very present and it is so encouraging to feel Her loving, motherly presence. She has been ever-present watching over my children, and has been a great presence in my life even more this past year. It has been an extremely challenging year, and Her steadfast presence – along with the other Gods and Goddesses of the North – have seen me through some very strenuous times during this period. Frigga whispered to me, “All mothers need help,” as if to let me know that age-old adage “it takes a village” when it comes to raising children. This was so encouraging to me as I have been torn lately between my precious duties as mother and wife and the duties I carry as a priestess-healer (known as a shaman). To hear this from our Mother-Goddess was so encouraging, allowing myself to really believe I don’t have to place pressure on myself to be everything and do everything alone.
Hail the Godanum! Hail Tapio! Hail Louhi! Hail Frigga! Thank you for Your encouragement, Your protection, Your guidance, Your Love, and Your presence.
